Get Re-Energized

Re-Energize Your Ride with Electric VehiclesRe-Energize in Style

Have you noticed that new electric vehicles (EVs) are becoming more widely used than ever? That is because it’s easier than ever to own and operate an EV. Major automakers are now offering these vehicles which have all of the comforts and performance of gasoline-powered cars. New EVs have greater driving range, reasonable charging times and can be charged easily at home or at public stations.

Cleaner Air is Re-Energizing

EVs are good for the environment. They boast no direct emissions and plug-in hybrids emit half the greenhouse gases as an efficient gasoline-fueled vehicle. With roughly two-thirds of the region’s air pollution coming from motor vehicles, EVs are a breath of fresh air to our communities.

Electric Vehicles are Affordable

Although EVs may appear expensive based solely on the sticker price of a particular car, they can be a prudent financial choice in many cases. The sticker price of a car is not the complete picture of how much it will cost. An important factor to consider is the total life-cycle cost of operating the car. Electricity is inexpensive compared to the high cost of gasoline or diesel.

Generally, EVs can deliver passengers to destinations at a fuel cost of about 3-4 cents per mile, compared to gasoline at a cost of 10-30 cents per mile. Another factor in the total cost of a vehicle is maintenance. There are no oil changes, tune-ups or emission control repairs required on an EV. Finally, government incentives can make the price of an EV even more attractive. Visit goelectricdrive.com for more information on electric vehicles and charging.

EV Charging Stations

You’ve Got the Power

Charging an EV is easy and the number of public charging stations in the Puget Sound Region is growing rapidly. Many EV owners are opting to charge their vehicles at home with equipment that is purchased and installed by private companies. In any case, PSE has determined that charging EVs does not pose any significant problem for the energy supply or delivery to homes and businesses in the region.

Visit blinknetwork.com/blinkMap for a map of public charging stations.

Re-Energize Your Ride with CNG Vehicles

Cleaner Domestic Fuel is Re-Energizing

Did you know that domestic natural gas is plentiful and affordable? And unlike conventional petroleum-based fuels, natural gas comes from right here in North America. Using natural gas for transportation fuel reduces our dependence on foreign oil, and all of us can support that.

Natural gas vehicles emit significantly less greenhouse gas than conventional gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles. On average, natural gas vehicles emit:

Carbon Monoxide Emissions

How Much Does it Really Cost?

The cost of compressed natural gas (CNG) as a transportation fuel is surprisingly low and a CNG-powered vehicle gets about the same fuel economy as a conventional vehicle. Now available at roughly half the cost of petroleum-based fuel, CNG fuel prices are also more stable compared to the volatile price fluctuations in the market for petroleum. Visit afdc.energy.gov/fuels/prices.html for more information about the price of natural gas fuel.

PSE supplies natural gas to public fueling around the Puget Sound Region. Visit wwcleancities.org/tools for more information about fueling options.

CNG Vehicles are Safe & Practical

CNG Stations

Natural gas vehicles are designed and built to be safe in normal operation, fueling and accidents. As with vehicles that are fueled with petroleum-based gasoline, new natural gas vehicles are subject to federal motor vehicle safety standards and crash tests. Fueling stations are also built to high safety standards.

In most cases, fueling a CNG vehicle is not much different than fueling a gasoline-powered car. Instructions are available at the station, similar to those at traditional filling stations.

PSE supplies natural gas to public and private fueling stations and we have staff available to assist your with information about vehicle and fueling options.
