Prescriptive Approach - New Buildings
PSE’s prescriptive approach to energy efficiency in new retail buildings offers a clear path to incorporating cost-effective efficiency upgrades. Following PSE’s prescriptive approach will result in a facility that is at least 10 percent more energy efficient than required by the Washington State Energy Code. Incentives for retail projects range from $1.00 to $2.00 per square foot.
New retail projects that are less than 100,000 square feet are eligible. Additionally, the facility must be served by PSE electricity and, if heated by natural gas, the gas must be provided by PSE. Retail stores with grocery and/or kitchens are not eligible for this approach.
Retail projects must incorporate Enhanced HVAC Controls as the main efficiency measure, plus at least one more measure from PSE’s list of additional measures. Incorporating more measures means that you will earn more incentives. Preapproval is required and installed measures must be verified by PSE before incentives will be paid.
This approach can be used for LEED certified buildings. If you are choosing the LEED measures, please see the file below.
