Corporate Giving Program

Contribution Guidelines

Puget Sound Energy is an investor-owned utility whose shareholder contributions provide support for qualified 501(c)3 charitable organizations that are based in and serve the people of our service area. PSE's service area spans 11 counties and includes 1 million electric customers and nearly 750,000 natural gas customers. Since its formation in 1997, PSE has contributed more than $10 million in charitable contributions to the community.

Charitable contributions are made through PSE's Corporate Giving Program and the Puget Sound Energy Foundation, which began accepting charitable grant requests in 2007.

Nine Community Relations Managers (CRMs) make contributions to qualified organizations in their local areas. Using this de-centralized model, PSE's community contributions are closely aligned with the values and priorities of the local community.

Each year, the CRMs receive many more solid requests than they are able to fund. Their goal is to leverage limited resources to achieve the most for the communities they serve. PSE helps to support a wide range of community-based programs and projects. Of special priority are those programs that promote responsible economic development and environmental stewardship.

Requests are evaluated year-round based on quality and in relation to demand and budget.

PSE does not make contributions for general operating expenses or to:

  • Individuals
  • Individual schools, youth groups, teams, choirs, bands, clubs, etc.
  • Churches or religiously affiliated programs focused on evangelization
  • Political organizations
  • Endowment funds or foundations
