Bellingham Bay
Whatcom County
Puget Sound Energy has served the electric needs of Whatcom County for more than 95 years. From our local Customer Service Office and Service Center, both in Bellingham, we look forward to serving customers in the county for decades to come.
Today, PSE provides electric service to more than 92,000 customers in the county through more than 1,800 miles of neighborhood distribution lines, 238 miles of high-voltage transmission lines, and 28 substations. PSE continues to invest in local electric-system upgrades and expansions, including constructing or rebuilding five substations in 2008 and 2009. We’re also making significant enhancements to our high-voltage transmission lines – installing one mile of new line, upgrading 19.5 miles of line, and increasing the power capacity of another 49 miles of line.
Bellingham is recognized as the top green power community in the nation with the City of Bellingham and Whatcom County purchasing enough green power to cover 100 percent of their electric loads and Western Washington University positioned as one of PSE’s top green power customers.
In addition to providing safe, reliable and affordable electric service, PSE currently offers incentives to make homes and businesses more energy efficient, provides low-income assistance, and supports a variety of community programs in the county.
