Puget Sound Energy natural gas pipeline project
Bellevue Braids/Lake Hills Connector
Fall 2009 project updates
-
Crews will grind the road on Southeast 8th Street between 118th Avenue Southeast and 121st Avenue Southeast on Wednesday night, Oct. 14. The paving will occur right behind the grinding as weather permits.
Project Overview
Puget Sound Energy has completed construction of a new natural gas pipeline in downtown Bellevue to provide uninterrupted service to existing customers and to accommodate projected demand for natural gas. We have installed approximately 1.9 miles of 16-inch natural gas line from 140th Avenue SE to SE 8th Street, and linked it to a another segment of 1.6 miles of 12-inch natural gas line that runs along 112th Ave SE and 110th Ave NE. The new main replaces an existing main that will be temporarily taken out of service during construction of a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) I-405 road improvement project. Due to future natural gas requirements, installing a larger pipeline alongside the WSDOT construction project is practical and economical.
How does natural gas get to my home or business?
Natural gas is a fossil fuel composed almost entirely of methane. Interstate pipelines transport natural gas to regional natural gas systems, where it is metered and delivered through a network of local mains, service lines and, ultimately, to customer homes and businesses. Natural gas provides 13 percent of the state's energy.
Committed to keeping you informed
PSE will continue to provide updates to the community. We will notify residents near the project area when construction will occur. We aim to complete the work with as little disruption as possible.
