Hopkins Ridge Wind Facility
Community and economic benefits in Columbia County
The Hopkins Ridge Wind Facility is Puget Sound Energy's first wind farm. PSE owns 100 percent of the facility. Construction began in March 2005. In November 2005, turbines began generating electricity.
Economic stimulus generated from jobs and leasing-income for landowners benefits the local community. The Hopkins Ridge Wind Facility contributes more than $900,000 in tax revenue annually.
PSE has elected to sell the green attributes from its wind facilities that are in excess of its current needs to other entities across the nation and therefore does not include the energy from these facilities as “renewable” energy in its fuel mix as reported to the state of Washington.
