Besides managing a diversified purchased-gas portfolio, PSE reduces its customers' energy costs by buying gas during the lower-priced summer months, storing it in large underground reservoirs, then tapping the stored reserves in winter when customer gas usage is highest.
Jackson Prairie Gas-Storage Facility
PSE co-owns and operates the Northwest's largest natural-gas storage facility, called Jackson Prairie. The southwest Washington facility is capable of holding 41 billion cubic feet of gas. PSE also stores natural gas in a large underground facility in Utah.
