Over the past five years, PSE has donated more than $61,000 to Island County’s charitable organizations through our corporate giving program and the Puget Sound Energy Foundation. Members of TeamPSE, our employee volunteer program, donate many hours of personal time and lots of energy to support the Whidbey community. We’ve also given more than $1.1 million in energy efficiency grants and rebates to our Whidbey customers.

Whidbey Island Center for the Arts
The Puget Sound Energy Foundation provided a $30,000 grant to the arts center to support its calendar of shows and events. Whidbey Island Center for the Arts is a vital, vibrant and integral part of the arts scene on the island. The foundation is proud to help this organization bring diverse programs of entertainment, education and cultural enrichment to the community.
“The significant financial support that the Puget Sound Energy Foundation granted to Whidbey Island Center for the Arts’ (WICA) Stage Two: Building for the Future capital campaign was instrumental in helping the organization reach its Phase I goal. The foundation’s investment in this project clearly demonstrated its dedication to the community and the people who live there, and this support served as a clear endorsement of the importance of the project paving the way for WICA to secure other significant donations.”

City of Oak Harbor
PSE was a sponsor of the Whidbey Island Marathon, Oak Harbor’s first-ever marathon, which helped to stimulate the island economy by bringing an estimated $300,000 into the community in lodging, food and entertainment. The event was a significant income driver for the community, and we’re happy we were able to help get the event off the ground.
Island County food banks
Over several years, PSE has collected food for or made donations to three nonprofit Whidbey food banks: Good Cheer Food Bank on South Whidbey, Gifts from the Heart in Coupeville, and North Whidbey Help House in Oak Harbor. These organizations provide an important safety net for local families in need. We are proud to be an ongoing supporter.
Hearts and hammers
Serving South Whidbey since 1994, Hearts and Hammers brings together 400 volunteers on the first Saturday of May to help repair and rehabilitate approximately 40 homes of those who are physically or financially unable to do the work alone. In the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors, homeowners receive labor and materials at no cost to them thanks to the contributions and support of the larger community, including businesses like PSE.
Beach Watchers/Island County WSU Extension
For the third year in a row, PSE sponsored the annual Sound Waters gathering. This one-day “university for all” attracts 600 participants from Whidbey and beyond to hear keynote speakers and participate in workshops focused on what it means to live in and around Puget Sound with respect for the natural world. PSE staff also participate as presenters for energy-related workshops.
We also support
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County, Community Harvest, Ebey’s Historical Reserve, Island County Historical Society, Saratoga Chamber Orchestra, Senior Services of Island County and Whidbey Animals Improvement Foundation, just to name a few.
Energy efficiency grants and rebates
Over the past five years, we’ve contributed almost $1 million in energy efficiency grants to Island County commercial businesses and nearly $200,000 in rebates to residential customers.
