Are You Prepared?Be prepared for storms
Before a storm
During and after a storm
- Keep track of storm developments using a battery-powered radio. Puget Sound Energy issues regular reports to local TV, radio, and newspapers during emergency outage situations.
- If you can access the internet, visit the Service Alert pages on PSE.com for reports on outages and recovery processes.
- If the power goes out, be prepared to stay safe and comfortable. For tips, review the Service Outages page on PSE.com.
Natural gas appliances that operate during a power outage
Some natural gas appliances can operate without electricity, enabling you to bathe and cook during a power outage. Here’s what works if the electricity goes out:
- most natural gas water heaters
- gas logs
- natural gas barbecues
- cooktop range (Cooktops with electronic ignitions will need to be lighted by a match.)
