Are You Prepared?

Be prepared for storms

Before a storm

During and after a storm

  • Keep track of storm developments using a battery-powered radio. Puget Sound Energy issues regular reports to local TV, radio, and newspapers during emergency outage situations.
  • If you can access the internet, visit the Service Alert pages on PSE.com for reports on outages and recovery processes.
  • If the power goes out, be prepared to stay safe and comfortable. For tips, review the Service Outages page on PSE.com.

Natural gas appliances that operate during a power outage

Some natural gas appliances can operate without electricity, enabling you to bathe and cook during a power outage. Here’s what works if the electricity goes out:

  • most natural gas water heaters
  • gas logs
  • natural gas barbecues
  • cooktop range (Cooktops with electronic ignitions will need to be lighted  by a match.)
