Incentives for Lodging Facilities
Most lodging facilities need to operate around the clock, hosting guests and events, while offering a variety of services. Guest rooms, public lobbies, banquet facilities, restaurants, lounges, offices, and retail stores fill the hotel and motel buildings. Hotel ice machines, vending machines, laundries and kitchens are typically large energy users. The variety of services and amenities provided and the need for continuous operations mean that lodging facilities have excellent opportunities for energy savings.
PSE understands the needs of hotel and motel facility operators and offers incentives to help with the upfront costs of energy-efficiency upgrades. Whether their facility is a large convention hotel, part of a national or international chain, or a small inn or motel, leaders in the hospitality industry throughout the Puget Sound Region are putting the power of energy efficiency to work for improving their bottom line and increasing guest satisfaction.
Lodging industry rebates
Hotels and motels can reduce their energy costs through measures such as lighting upgrades, the installation of high-efficiency Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps (PTHPs), HVAC occupancy-based controls, guest restroom lighting controls, high-efficiency commercial washing machines, and commercial kitchen equipment.
Energy-efficient commercial lighting
PSE offers rebates and grants for a variety of energy-efficient lighting options. Rebates are available for CFLs, LEDs, low-wattage T8 fluorescents, CMH lamps and others. Additionally, lighting controls and LED exit signs qualify for rebates. Don’t see what you are thinking of on our list of lighting rebates? For custom solutions to energy-efficient lighting in hospitality facilities, PSE offers custom retrofit grants.
High-efficiency packaged terminal heat pumps: $150 rebates
Qualifying Packaged Terminal Heat Pumps (PTHP) are eligible for a rebate if they exceed the current Washington State Energy Code by a minimum of ten percent and replace an existing Packaged Terminal Air Conditioner (PTAC) or PTHP unit. The rebate amount is $150 per PTHP installed and is not dependent on capacity.
HVAC occupancy controls: $75 rebates
PSE lodging electric customers who purchase qualifying HVAC controls are eligible for a rebate of $75. HVAC occupancy controls must be stand-alone and have automatic unoccupied setback capabilities or a networked guestroom control with similar capabilities. Unoccupied set points must be a minimum of eight degrees Fahrenheit from the occupied set point. Additionally, the existing HVAC system must be all electric PTAC, PTHP or fan coil systems with electric strip heat.
Guest restroom lighting controls: $10 rebates
PSE lodging electric customers who purchase qualifying occupancy controls for guest restroom lighting with a minimum connected load of 50W are eligible for this rebate. Any occupancy-based lighting controls with integrated nightlight are eligible.
High-efficiency commercial clothes washer: $200 rebates
PSE offers a $200 rebate for the purchase of high-efficiency commercial clothes washers to customers who heat their water with PSE supplied electricity or natural gas. Eligible commercial washers must meet stringent Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) specifications.
Commercial Kitchen Equipment: $200 - $2000 rebates
Whether your facility offers free breakfast, room service or several restaurant choices, commercial kitchen equipment often accounts for a large portion of a lodging facility’s energy use. PSE offers rebates for a wide variety of commercial kitchen equipment that is commonly used at hotels and motels including ice machines, dishwashers, hot food holding cabinets and ovens.
To be eligible for PSE’s commercial rebates, customers must purchase electricity and/or natural gas from PSE at the site where the equipment is installed.
