Instant Rebates for Commercial Lighting

 
Did you know that lighting makes up over 40 percent of the energy use in most commercial buildings? Business owners want to reduce energy costs by installing more efficient lighting, but this costs money. And, looking for utility rebates can be time consuming. That’s why Puget Sound Energy offers instant rebates for qualifying commercial lighting products.
 
PSE’s instant rebate program allows commercial electric customers to get discounts at the time of purchase for eligible lighting products through participating vendors. No paperwork is involved, and the participating vendors already know which products qualify. See below for the amount of instant rebates given for different lighting products.

Eligibility and guidelines

  • Must be a commercial PSE electric customer
  • Must install ENERGY STAR® or other qualifying lighting in PSE's electric service area
  • To confirm if your commercial business location is eligible to receive incentives, call a PSE Energy Advisor at 1-800-562-1482 for verification
  • PSE may require installation verification which may necessitate a site visit by a
    PSE employee
  • CFLs: ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs must be used
  • LEDs: All products must be ENERGY STAR qualified LED lamps or listed on the Lighting Design Lab’s “Northwest Regional Utilities LED Products List” 
  • Reduced-Wattage T8 lamps: For a list of qualifying reduced-wattage lamps see the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE). Only lamps listed on the CEE website under “Reduced-wattage qualifying lamps, ballast” will be rebated. To qualify, you must re-lamp all T8 lighting in the building or on an entire floor of the building. Projects are subject to verification for completeness. Please note this is a one-time-only rebate.


How to participate

  1. Select a participating vendor from the current participating vendor list
    Call a PSE Energy Advisor at 1-800-562-1482 with any questions about the program
  2. Purchase qualifying lighting products from participating vendor, receive an instant rebate and install at your business: no additional paperwork needed!
  3. See the benefits:
    Lower energy costs: Efficient lighting can save you up to 70 percent or more per year in energy costs and lasts more than 10 times longer than incandescent lamps.
    Saves time and money: Instant rebates eliminate the process of researching qualifying products and filling out, and submitting forms.
    Maintenance cost savings: Because efficient lighting lasts longer, you don’t need to replace them as often, which saves your business money and time. 
 

Recycling CFLs

Compact fluorescent light bulbs contain a very small amount of mercury, so do not put used CFLs in the garbage. While the amount of mercury in a single bulb is extremely small, it will harm the environment if large numbers of bulbs are disposed of in landfills. Select PSE offices, participating retail locations and county household hazardous waste facilities recycle CFLs for free. Click here to find CFL recycling locations near you.
