Solar Schools Program
PSE has already funded PV demonstration projects at several schools and educational facilities throughout its territory and is looking to expand its solar schools network through this solicitation. Demonstration systems are installed at Washington Middle School, Redmond High School, and at the Institute for Environmental Research & Education. Two more projects are slated for installation in 2008, at Port Townsend High School and at the Issaquah Fish Hatchery. The mission of the Solar Schools Program has several components:
- Educational benefit: The project should demonstrate renewable energy generating technology and increase consumer understanding, acceptance and demand for renewable energy resources.
- Geographic diversity: The project should represent a region within PSE service territory. (Proximity to existing or planned PV demonstration projects funded by PSE will be a criterion of selection.)
- Community based: The project should provide extrinsic or promotional benefits for the community at large or a community or tax supported organization.
