Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
What is SRM?
PSE has implemented Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) as a new sourcing application. SRM is a SAP module that will enable the purchasing function to move to a new, fully electronic threshold. SRM is an additional tool the buyers will use to solicit bids. The current RFQ forms and RFI process will continue to be used in addition to the SRM bidding process. Through SRM, we will gain increased efficiencies in sourcing, procurement, and business intelligence, thus allowing our Buyers to better analyze their business and focus on strategic initiatives.
How does SRM apply to me?
The PSE Buyers will use SRM to create and send out bid invitations via email. In this email, you will be provided with an internet link to connect to our SRM application. You will also be given a user ID and password to log onto SRM. Through SRM, you will be able to review the bid invitation and enter and submit your bid back to the Buyer electronically. These activities will streamline our current RFP and RFQ process in place today.
What do I need to do to participate?
In order to participate, you will be required to establish a general email address for your company. This email address will be used in our bid invitation process and will be the general address used for Purchase Orders. We envision our suppliers setting up a general email address that would not be tied to an individual's name. For example: psesales@pse.com, rather than john.smith@pse.com. This is to compensate for when individual sales contacts are unavailable due to vacation, illness or a change in personnel. If you only provide an individual email address, it will be your responsibility for ensuring that the emails are directed appropriately when that individual is out of the office.
Other system requirements include:
- An internet browser such as, Internet Explorer 6.0, Firefox 1.0.2, Mozilla 1.7.5 or Netscape 7.02.
- Access to Microsoft applications, such as Word 97 (or higher) and Excel 97 (or higher).
- Ability to read portable document format (.pdf) files. You can download a free copy of Adobe reader at: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
Does SRM replace the current RFQ & RFI process?
SRM is more efficient for sourcing, and wherever possible, we will encourage our suppliers to use this tool. During the course of implementing SRM, you may continue to see RFQ and RFI faxes or emails from our current process in addition to Bid invitations through SRM. It is our intent to incrementally move to SRM as our primary sourcing tool.
