Green Power Program: Program Resources

Where does it come from?


All of the renewable energy PSE's Green Power Customers purchase is produced here in the Pacific Northwest and fed into the regional grid. The Stateline Wind Project and Hanford Solar Facility are two major sources for PSE's Green Power Program. These key resources are highlighted below.

This product is sold in blocks of 320 kilowatt-hours (kWh). The product will be made up of the following renewable resources.
Green-e Certified New 2 Renewables in PSE's Green Power Program Generation Locations
- Wind 77% WA/OR
- Biomass 14% WA/OR
- Qualified Low-Impact Hydro 9% WA/OR
- Solar <1% WA/OR
TOTAL 100% WA/OR

1. These figures reflect the power that we have contracted to provide. Actual figures may vary according to resource availability. We will annually report to you the actual resource mix of the electricity you purchased during the preceding year.

2. New Renewables come from generation facilities that first began commercial operation on or after January 1, 1997.

For comparison, the current average mix of resources supplying Puget Sound Energy includes: Large Hydroelectric (45%), Coal (35%), Natural Gas (17%), Wind (2%), Nuclear (1%), and other (1%) based on 2006 fuel mix reported to the State of Washington Office of Trade and Economic Development.
