Lighting often accounts for 40 to 70 percent of building energy use. Business owners want to reduce energy costs by using more efficient lighting options, but efficient replacement options can cost considerably more than inefficient ones, and looking for utility rebates can be time consuming. It can also be difficult to determine what products are eligible. Puget Sound Energy’s Commercial CFL Instant Rebate Program can help commercial customers save time and money.
PSE’s Commercial CFL Instant Rebate Program allows commercial electric customers to receive instant discounts at the point of purchase for eligible CFLs through participating vendors. No paperwork is involved, and the participating vendors already know which products qualify. See below for the amount of instant rebates given for different wattages.

- Must install ENERGY STAR® or other qualifying CFL bulbs in PSE electric service area.
- If a business owner is unsure of whether a commercial business location is eligible to receive incentives, they can call a PSE Energy Advisor at 1-800-562-1482 for verification.
- See vendor for lists of qualifying CFL bulbs, cold cathode lamps and others.
- PSE may require installation verification which may necessitate a site visit by a PSE employee.
- Puget Sound Energy recommends ENERGY STAR qualified products.

Compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs contain a very small amount of mercury, so do not put used CFLs in the garbage. While the amount of mercury in a single bulb is extremely small, it will harm the environment if large numbers of bulbs are disposed of in landfills.
