One of the easiest and most inexpensive ways to save energy is to replace your incandescent light bulbs with ENERGY STAR® qualified compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs.
- Saves money
ENERGY STAR qualified CFL bulbs can help save you money. By replacing the five most frequently used lights in your home with CFL bulbs, you can save up to $60 each year in energy costs.
- Saves energy
ENERGY STAR qualified CFL bulbs use up to 75 percent less energy than conventional incandescent bulbs while providing the same amount of light. For example, a CFL bulb only needs 13 watts to give off the same light that an incandescent bulb would need 60 watts to produce.
- Lasts longer
An ENERGY STAR qualified CFL bulb can last up to 10,000 hours. One CFL bulb can outlast about 10 incandescent bulbs, which makes CFL bulbs an ideal choice for hard-to-reach sockets – you can change bulbs less often!
- High quality
Today’s CFL bulbs use electronic ballasts that illuminate immediately and do not flicker or buzz. CFL bulbs that have earned the ENERGY STAR have been tested to meet stringent performance criteria established by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
