PSE enters power purchase agreement with Douglas County PUD
Clean, reliable energy resource to serve about 20,000 homes

BELLEVUE, Wash. (6/12/2018) Puget Sound Energy and Douglas County PUD have reached an agreement on a power sales contract that will provide PSE a 5.5 percent share of hydroelectric power produced by the Wells Hydroelectric Project for the next three years.

Douglas PUD marketed the power on behalf of the Colville Tribe from their slice of the project. PSE will derive 25 MW of power, enough energy to power approximately 20,000 homes.

“Acquiring additional carbon-free resources is important to PSE and its customers,” said PSE Senior Vice President of Policy & Energy Supply David Mills. “Having a stable energy supply from these great projects on the Columbia River will help ensure we have another energy source for our customers during the peak winter months.”

This purchase agreement of carbon-free hydropower is consistent with PSE’s overall strategy to reduce its carbon footprint. The company recently announced its commitment to reduce its carbon footprint 50 percent by 2040.
