Northeast 85th Street natural gas main relocation – phase 3
Project overview
Puget Sound Energy and InfraSource crews are working on the natural gas system along Northeast 85th Street in conjunction with WSDOT’s I-405/Northeast 85th Street Interchange and Inline BRT Station Project. Phase 3 of this project entails relocating a segment of the existing underground natural gas main.

Monday night, May 11 and will last up to five weeks
Overnight work hours: Sunday – Thursday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Where:
Northeast 85th Street, between 120th Avenue Northeast and the I-405 offramp northbound, Kirkland
What you can expect
- This work should not impact natural gas service for PSE customers
- Lane closure on Northeast 85th Street eastbound and the I-405 offramp northbound. Detour signs to be posted
- Sidewalk closure on Northeast 85th Street. Detour signs to be posted
- Traffic control flaggers and signs guiding vehicles and pedestrians safely around the work area
- Construction noise from trucks and machinery
We understand the inconvenience of overnight construction work and appreciate your patience. We’re taking steps to minimize noise and disruption as much as possible. These include:
- All vehicles will have lowered-decibel-level backup alarms
- Bed liners will be placed on trucks to help absorb noise and vibrations
- Equipment will be staged away from homes and businesses
- All equipment will be shut off when not in use
- Access routes will be created away from homes and businesses
- Construction lights will face away from passing motorists, adjacent housing and businesses
- Metal on metal impacts and banging of truck bed tailgates will be prohibited
