  • Puget Sound Energy signs agreement to advance clean energy goals with new state solar project
The Schnebly Coulee solar project in Kittitas County is expected to generate about 213 GWh annually

BELLEVUE, Wash. (2026/2/10) Puget Sound Energy announced it has closed on an Asset Purchase Agreement with Invenergy, North America’s largest privately held developer, owner, and operator of innovative, reliable power infrastructure for the new, 90 MW Schnebly Coulee solar project located in Kittitas County, Washington.

Once operational, the Schnebly Coulee solar project is expected to generate about 213 GWh per year, which is enough energy to power about 20,000 homes, annually. The solar project will also contribute to PSE’s remaining projected resource needs to be Clean Energy Transformation Act (CETA) compliant.

The Schnebly Coulee solar facility will be built on approximately 1,314 acres of unirrigated land in Kittitas County, not far from PSE’s Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility.

"The Schnebly Coulee solar facility represents an important step forward in our commitment to providing cleaner, reliable energy to our customers," said Craig Pospisil, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer for PSE. "This project will help us meet some of our capacity needs while being part of our strategy to meet the state's ambitious clean energy requirements."

“We are proud to support PSE and Washington State’s clean energy goals through Schnebly Coulee Solar,” said Laura Miner, Senior Vice President of Development at Invenergy. “Invenergy is proud to build on our longstanding partnership with PSE and is committed to meeting our customers’ needs with tailored solutions that deliver reliable, affordable energy, while strengthening the grid and local economies.”

The facility will connect to PSE's system through a comprehensive interconnection and transmission plan utilizing existing infrastructure, including interconnection at the Wind Ridge 230 kV substation and a three-segment transmission delivery path ensuring reliable energy delivery to PSE's service territory.

Backed by 25 years of trusted execution and operational excellence, Invenergy has a portfolio of more than 220 power infrastructure projects totaling 36,000 MW, with utility and corporate customers across the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Construction on the new solar facility began in August of 2025 and it is expected to be commercially operational by June of 2029.

Since the passage of CETA in 2019, PSE has added more than 6,000 MW of renewable energy resources to its evolving resource mix. More than 2,000 MW of that capacity comes from new projects that will serve the energy needs of its customers.
