PSE hosts Boys Scouts for Merit Badge Day

BELLEVUE, Wash. (7/13/2018) It was a full house in the PSE Auditorium as 50 boys, from Chief Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts of America, worked on getting two of their merit badges on May 12.

The all-day event included hands on activities so Scout members could earn an Electricity badge, an Energy badge, or both.

“This is another way that PSE is committed to being a valued contributor in the community,” said Renee Zimmerman, Community Projects Manager at PSE and Leader of the Merit Badge Day. “Bringing together my passion for volunteering in Scouting and bridging this partnership allows PSE employees the opportunity to give back to our youth and get them excited about our industry.”

To earn their Energy Badge, the boys had to construct their own mini-turbine and learn about different energy forms, conversions, and efficiency.

The Scouts also worked with wires, batteries and paperclips to build their own circuit so they could earn their Electricity Badge.

More than a dozen PSE volunteers assisted with the event and spent countless hours making sure the event went smoothly
