Weekend weather forecasts may require us to turn on Enhanced Powerline Settings in Kittitas County. These settings are designed to help keep you safe, but they may result in unplanned power outages.

Given the holiday, we've also added additional staffing for first responders and our operations center. Please be safe and do your part to prevent wildland fires. See this flyer from Washington State's Department of Natural Resources for important safety tips.

Safety first:

  • Never touch or go within 35 feet of downed power lines because they might be energized.
  • Call PSE at 1-888-225-5773 or 911 to report problems.
  • If you’re using portable heaters, keep them away from furniture, draperies and other flammable materials.
  • Always use flashlights instead of candles.
  • Be aware of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning: Never install or use a generator indoors or in enclosed or partially enclosed areas, even those that are ventilated.

Be aware of scams targeting utility consumers

PSE wants you to be aware of scammers and con artists who target utility consumers across the country by posing as utility representatives and demanding immediate payment of an “overdue” bill to avoid disconnection of your energy service.

What to know about scams:

  • We never ask or require you to purchase a prepaid debit card or pay via cash apps to avoid disconnection, even if you have a delinquent account.
  • You’ll receive several communications related to bill payment before any service disruption.
  • Our secure online payment portal is available only through pse.com or through the MyPSE app.

Recent scams include:

  • Scammers calling customers stating they have an overpayment, but need bank information to issue a refund. PSE will not ask for your bank information. Any refund will be credited to your account.
  • Scammers going door-to-door offering to restore power for a fee, or asking if your power is out. This is NOT something PSE workers would do.
  • Phone calls using “spoofing technology” that displays Puget Sound Energy’s name and phone number when they call to threaten disconnection of service—usually within 30 minutes—if immediate payment is not made with a prepaid debit or money card.
  • A caller, falsely claiming to be from Puget Sound Energy, leaves a message to call back a number, usually an unfamiliar 1-800 or area code number.
