Fire Weather Forecasted

Hot, dry and windy conditions are forecast for the Kittitas Valley. As part of PSE’s wildfire safe operations, we turned on system settings that are more sensitive to potential hazards.

Enhanced Powerline Settings are designed to help keep you safe, but they can result in unplanned power outages.

This is not a Public Safety Power Shutoff, where we proactively turn off power in advance of severe weather.

Connect your water heater

The newest generation of electric water heaters are compatible with the EcoPort Wi-Fi communication module, which allows PSE to adjust your water heater’s energy usage.

Check to see if your water heater is compatible and request your free EcoPort, or, if you’ve already received an EcoPort, follow the instructions below to set it up.

  • Check compatibility and request your EcoPort

    Most electric water heaters manufactured after Jan. 2023 and sold in Washington are EcoPort-compatible, and many older heat pump water heaters are too.

  • Follow these instructions to set up your EcoPort

    Step 1: Turn off power to your water heater at the electric panel

    Step 2: Remove EcoPort cover plate & install EcoPort module, gently tightening the screws provided. The EcoPort location may differ between water heater models. Reference water heater manual if needed.

    Step 3: Turn the power back on.

    Step 4: Using your phone or laptop, open Wi-Fi dialogue to view list of available networks. Connect to the EcoPort’s Wi-Fi network. Network name will match the code printed on the front of the EcoPort module.

    Step 5: Open web browser and navigate to 10.10.1.1/a.html (as if typing in the name of a website). This will bring you to an administrative interface for configuring the EcoPort module. Enter code, which can be found on the EcoPort module itself, as well as the box. Note: On some devices you may need to disable mobile data prior to this step.

    Step 6: Select your home’s Wi-Fi network and enter your password. Click “connect to network”.

    Step 7: Confirm status light turns blue, indicating successful connection to Wi-Fi network.

    Step 8: Visit skycentrics.com/pse and complete registration form. Setup complete! We’ll confirm connectivity and send a confirmation email within one week.
