Bike to Work Day was a great success

BELLEVUE, Wash. (5/23/2018) It was a great turn out for Bike to Work Day, May 18. Several riders came through our celebration stations in Bellevue, Bellingham, and Seattle.

Several employees ditched their cars and made the trek to work on their bikes, including Vice President of Regulatory and Government Affairs Ken Johnson.
The event was hosted by Cascade Bicycle Club as part of Bike Everywhere Month. As one of our Powerful Partners, Cascade Bicycle Club is the nation’s largest statewide bicycle nonprofit whose mission is to improve lives through bicycling.

Dozens of employees teamed to ride in to work together from Bellingham, Bothell, Bellevue, Redmond, Ellensburg, and other areas.

Dozens of bicyclists stopped at our stations to grab snacks, giveaways and information about the types of programs we have to offer. In Bellingham, more than 70 people visited our station.

An estimated 30 Bellevue bike commuters stopped at our celebration station to refuel during the two hours we were set up outside our Bellevue Campus. Several people on foot also stopped by to chat and were interested in our Energy Efficiency and Renewables programs. We even had one customer sign-up for a free Home Energy Assessment.

Bike to Work Day is a day to celebrate using an alternative form of transportation. And, it’s a green form of transportation—it can help us reach our goal to reduce our carbon footprint by 50 percent in 2040.
