PSE Foundation to distribute $1 million to groups focused on emergency preparedness
BELLEVUE, Wash. (9/18/2019) The Puget Sound Energy Foundation will have donated $1 million to help local organizations prepare in case of a major emergency this year.
Grants have been awarded to emergency shelters for generators, the Puget Sound Blood Center for emergency preparedness and to the Bellevue Police for crime software.
Many organizations like these are looking for some critical funding to help fill a need. Needs this past year included a new water rescue raft for the all-volunteer Skagit Search and Rescue team, which was put to use saving a life within two hours of its purchase.
PSE offers support in the form of $1 million through the PSE Foundation on an annual basis. A portion of these dollars, which include employee and retiree matching funds, are allocated through two competitive funding rounds in April and October. Any non-profit can apply but grants are focused solely on keeping our communities safe and prepared – especially as the region the foundation services faces threats from wind, floods, snow, earthquakes, forest fires and more.
