How do I know which type of assessment is right for me (in-home vs. online)?
If you’d like personalized, in-home guidance from a trained Energy Guide, the In-Home Energy Assessment is a good fit. This type of assessment delivers the most accurate results and the most personalized options to help you save energy. If you’d prefer a quick, self-guided option, the Online Home Energy Assessment provides fast insights you can access anytime.

In-Home Energy Assessment
What happens during my In-Home Energy Assessment?
A trained Energy Guide will arrive at your home at the scheduled time, wearing Puget Sound Energy / Franklin Energy identification. You’ll walk through your home together, review how energy is used in your home, and discuss opportunities to improve your comfort and energy savings.
Do I need to be home during the visit?
Yes. An adult must be present in the home for the entire appointment.
What areas of my home will the Energy Guide need access to?
Your Energy Guide will need to access key areas such as your heating and water-heating systems, appliances, and the attic or crawlspace (if accessible). Please clear pathways to these areas ahead of time.
Will the Energy Guide perform any construction or repairs?
No. This visit is an assessment only. The Energy Guide will not perform construction, repairs, or equipment installation.
I have pets. What should I do with them during the appointment?
Please secure pets in a crate or behind a closed door to ensure a safe and smooth visit.
What information should I have ready?
It’s helpful to know when your heating or water-heating equipment was installed or when major renovations occurred. Having this information can make the assessment more personalized. Also, please be sure you have a PSE.com online account before your appointment. If that’s not possible, having your most recent PSE bill on hand is helpful for the discussion.
Who conducts the In-Home Energy Assessment?
