Transitioning to an electric fleet can reduce operational costs for schools, governments, businesses and organizations of all kinds. But, standard electric rates can sometimes make electric fleets less cost effective.

PSE Fleet Rates offers three pricing structures that can be more cost effective and efficient for commercial customers with electric fleets or those considering electrifying their fleets. These three pricing options are based on the unique needs of our customers.

Three rate options for your electric fleet

The Fleet Rate that’s right for you depends on the size of your fleet, when your business needs require you to charge, and how consistent your charging needs are.

NOTE: Fleet Rates can be complicated. To discuss what pricing option is right for you, fill out the information request form at the bottom of this page, and one of our Fleet Rate experts will walk you through the options.

Option 1: Energy Only

You pay for the electricity you use, with a higher rate for electricity used during peak hours and a lower rate for electricity used during off-peak hours.

Good for: customers who want simple bills and full control of what they pay based on when they charge.

Option 2: Demand Only

You pay a rate based on your moment of highest electricity demand during peak hours and non-peak hours.

Good for: customers with predictable electricity needs who can stagger vehicle charging throughout the day, flattening their demand during off-peak hours, and use energy management and smart charging systems.

Option 3: Energy and Demand

You pay for the electricity you use with your rate based on your highest 15-minute period of electricity demand during a billing month and whether that occurred during peak or off-peak hours.

Good for: customers with large charging and fleet operations who can manage their peak electricity usage but aren’t as flexible on when charging can occur.

What are peak and off-peak hours?

Peak hours are times when demand on the electrical grid is highest. Off-peak hours are times when electrical demand is lowest.

  • Peak hours: 4 p.m. – 9 p.m., except on holidays
  • Off-peak hours: all other hours, including holidays

Incentives on electric fleet vehicles and charging equipment

In addition to Fleet Rates, PSE offers incentives – up to $250,000 per charging location – to help municipalities, government agencies, school districts, transit agencies, businesses and other organizations electrify their fleets.

Our Up & Go Electric for Fleet incentives can cover a significant portion of the costs of electric service upgrades, electric vehicle charging equipment and installation, and fleet vehicles themselves.
