Fire Weather Forecasted

Due to current weather forecasts, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for the lower Kittitas Valley and Lower Columbia Basin. As part of PSE’s wildfire safe operations, we are turning on system settings that are more sensitive to potential hazards. These settings will stay in place as long as high wildfire risk conditions are present.

Enhanced Powerline Settings are designed to help keep you safe, but they may result in unplanned power outages. This is not a Public Safety Power Shutoff, where we proactively turn off power in advance of severe weather.

For more information or to report a power outage, visit PSE’s Outage map.

alert

Safety first. Never touch or go within 35 feet of downed power lines because they might be energized. Call PSE at 1-888-225-5773 or 911 to report problems.

Maintain your piping

Puget Sound Energy owns the natural gas pipelines up to your meter. From there on, they belong to you. It is your responsibility to maintain them.

For example: If any of your natural gas piping runs underground to serve a hot tub, pool, shop, other building or for a natural gas fueled standby generator — or if your meter is located away from the wall of your building — it needs to be maintained by you.

Buried piping that is not maintained may leak or corrode, creating an unsafe condition. Be sure to periodically inspect buried pipes and if the piping is metallic, inspect for corrosion. Make sure repairs are done immediately. A corrosion-control company or a plumbing or heating contractor can help inspect and repair it.

If you plan to excavate near your buried piping, it must be located in advance and the excavation should be done by hand. A private service can help locate your piping for a fee. A list of private locators can be found on the digsafewa.com website. PSE will locate its lines — those running from the street to your meter – for free. To request locates of PSE lines, call 811 at least two business days before you dig.

If you smell natural gas, call PSE 24/7 at 1-888-225-5773 and we will investigate. For emergencies, call 911.
