March Windstorm Event

Thursday, March. 12, 2026 - 6 p.m.

We appreciate our customers’ patience today! Crews are working tirelessly to restore power as quickly and safely as possible, with power restored to nearly 90% of customers.

Work will continue around the clock until power is restored to all customers. While field crews report significant progress, they are still encountering significant issues in Skykomish and Greenwater.

In Skykomish, crew work is focused on the westside, where there are major points of damage on the system. Work is ongoing to make repairs. It will take into Friday to identify the rest of the damage points, and then time to fix it. This is complicated by remote terrain and heavy snow coming into the area could further slow patrols. At this point, we do not have an estimated time of restoration but anticipate it could be into the weekend. We have multiple crew resources working in the area to try to restore power as soon as possible.

In Greenwater, crews are working to restore the transmission line. While the repairs are being done on transmission, crews will start patrols on the distribution system. We do not have an estimated time of restoration until these patrols can be more fully completed.

Solar Energy Credit

Generate your own solar energy and get paid for what you don’t use on site. When you enroll in the Solar Energy Credit program, PSE will pay you for the excess energy you return to the grid in the form of monthly bill credits. The PSE Solar Energy Credit program reduces the cost barrier to solar ownership. Not only are you producing clean energy and lowering your carbon footprint, you are also sending excess clean energy to the grid helping PSE decarbonize the energy supply.

  • Eligibility
    • Customers must:
      • Be a current PSE account holder and electric customer taking service under one of the Schedules for Electric Service numbered 7 through 49.
      • The Solar PV System nameplate capacity may not exceed 1,000 kW AC.
      • Complete a Schedule 152 generator interconnection: application, agreement, and secure permission to operate their solar PV system under the terms and conditions of Schedule 152.
      • Have an AMI meter (cannot have a MV90 meter or participate in Schedule 171).
    • Customers cannot:
      • Participate in Net Metering (Schedule 150) or Multi-Occupant Solar (Schedule 686).
      • Participate in electric demand response programs and services.
  • How it works
    • The program is voluntary and enrollment is simple.
    • Select an experienced contractor. We recommend you use PSE's Recommended Energy Professionals (REPs) list where you can find a dependable and qualified solar contractor. The contractor will help you determine if your property is ideal for solar. We recommend you get multiple bids on your project and check their references.
    • Interconnect with PSE. Once you’ve selected an installer, they'll help lead you through the process of interconnecting your solar installation to the PSE power grid. The interconnection process, from initial application submittal to final approval to operation, can take 6 to 24 months to complete, depending on project complexity. In certain scenarios, the study and approval process may take less time.
      • Find out more about the interconnection process here.
    • Sign up. During the interconnection process you will be asked if you want to participate in the Solar Energy Credit program. You can also contact PSE to help you sign up.
    • Benefit. After signup you will see credits of $0.067130 per kWh for energy returned to PSE on your monthly PSE bill.
  • Why own solar?
    • Demonstrate your commitment to sustainability. Help meet carbon reduction goals and replace a portion of conventional electricity in PSE’s power supply with clean energy from a solar array.
    • Compensation. Get paid to generate energy and send it back to the grid.
    • Pricing. Reduce energy needs from PSE and reduce exposure to rate fluctuations.
    • Investment. Solar increases property values and there are outstanding opportunities to benefit from federal and state incentives.
    • Brand and Marketing. Solar can attract customers and improve customer perception.
  • Enhanced Incentives for community-based organizations, government agencies and Tribal entities

There are limited incentives available up to 100% or $250,000 per approved project to reduce the upfront cost of installing a solar system. Up to $50,000 of the funding can be used toward associated interconnection costs.

Applications for these incentives are reviewed each month and are prioritized by how much of the financial savings from the solar project the applicant passes historically marginalized community members.

Current and past recipients of Solar Grants or incentives may apply.

To be eligible for Enhanced Incentives, you must:

    • Be a community-based organization, government agency or Tribal entity serving historically marginalized communities.
    • Have a project located in PSE’s electric service area.
    • Own the project site or lease it with a minimum of 5 years remaining.
    • Enroll in Solar Energy Credit. For more details of this service see, Schedule 667.
    • Receive permission to operate by completing a Schedule 152 interconnection.
    • When requested, sign a Solar Energy Credit agreement with PSE.
    • Plan to complete installation no later than 12 months after the agreement is signed.
    • Have an average of 75% Total Solar Resource Fraction (TSRF) of all points in the proposed solar array.
